Work with an Online Counsellor or Psychotherapist

About Counselling

Work with a professional counsellor or psychotherapist at a time and place to suit you!

At Borders Counselling you can work with a counsellor by e-mail, instant chat or telephone, which ever suits you best. Some clients also find it helpful to combine two or three of these options, perhaps starting with one or two e-mail sessions and then moving to instant chat or telephone. In some cases you may also be able to book face-to-face sessions with your chosen therapist.

Online counselling allows you to work with a therapist without having to travel to their office or fit your session in around other appointments. All you need is a computer with access to the internet and a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed.

Telephone counselling allows you to speak to one of our professional therapists in person on the day of your choosing.

All of our counsellors are fully qualified and have extensive experience of working with clients. They can offer understanding and support, whatever your situation.

Is online counselling right for me?

Online counselling is a good solution if:

  • you are very busy, perhaps working long hours or unusual shifts, or you travel frequently, and find it very difficult to fit in regular face-to-face appointments;
  • you are housebound for some reason – for instance, if you have limited mobility or care for small children or elderly parents;
  • if you are worried about seeing a counsellor face-to-face and prefer the extra privacy offered by e-mail or online chat counselling;
  • if you find it easier to explore issues and feelings when you write them down, rather than talking about them.

If any of these apply to you, online or telephone counselling may be the solution you are looking for. As long as you have reasonable access to a computer and feel comfortable communicating via e-mail or instant chat, then it is a quick and simple way of working with a counsellor.

Many clients have told us that they find it much easier than they expected to put down their thoughts in writing – and they also like the fact that they are able to reflect on what they have written, and look back over their correspondence with their counsellor.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about online counselling or our counsellors before you begin.
